ADS Profund Server Migration: On Friday, October 12th Tyler Technologies transitioned our existing ADS Profund (payroll system) server to a new server. Earlier, we completed the requirements to prepare the new server for running ADS Profund. The BSU tech team and Tyler Systems Management team worked collaboratively to achieve a successful upgrade.
WIDA Testing for children who fall into the category of ELL (English Language Learners): The tech team continues to support this online student assessment test. We have updated the WIDA ELL TSM server and completed the software upgrades.
Promethean Boards: We have started the installation of the replacement boards that we ordered for the new school year. These installations typically take several hours and are done outside regular school hours. We hope to complete the installations in the next few months.
Vermont Fest 2018: Registration is open for Vermont Fest 2018 and includes entrance to all sessions, keynote address, and the innovation café. The conference theme is Mapping the Future and a reflection of how far we have come as an EdTech community. We are excited to have some of our staff members attending this year's conference scheduled for November 8th through the 9th.
Tech Jam 2018: BSU tech team members attended the Vermont Tech Jam held on October 19th at Champlain Valley Exposition in Essex Junction. We participated in a session on data breach which was organized by Vermont’s Office of the Attorney General. Experts in law enforcement, cybersecurity, legal affairs, cyber insurance, and public relations discussed ways to respond to a data breach in organizations such as ours. We came home with lots of ideas to implement in the future.
Hour of code: This annual event started as a one-hour introduction to computer science, designed to demystify "code," to show that anybody can learn the basics, and to broaden participation in the field of computer science. It has since become a worldwide effort to celebrate computer science, starting with one-hour coding activities but expanding to all sorts of community efforts. Anyone anywhere can organize an hour of code event. No experience needed. All BSU middle and high school teachers are encouraged to join this event during December 3rd through the 9th. Reach out to the tech team if you have questions.
